Z-WING
The Lightweight Alternative to Downriggers

For many years the effectiveness of down rigging techniques on big game fish has been well established. Through the efforts of Mr. Barry Moore, a hydrodynamic designer by profession and fisherman at heart, down rigging tackle has become more efficient and less costly.

USE

The Z-Wing has three tow positions; the center hole is the most efficient tow point.

Downward force overcomes drag, allowing a constant depth to be maintained with various trolling speeds. When your Z-Wing depth is set, you are free to troll at any speed and not worry about the depth changing! The Z-Wing can be connected to a down rigger cable, or for a far less expensive application, the Z-Wing can be used with a tow line of at least 300 lb. test.

APPLICATION

Pioneering the Z-Wing's use in various saltwater applications, Stan Lushinsky and Susan Richards of Ixtapa Sportfishing Charters, have caught everything from mackerel to marlin using the Z-Wing. Stan and Susan have trolled lures off the Z-Wing for such popular gamefish as snapper, grouper, wahoo and roosterfish. They have also used the Z-Wing with trolling dead bait for Pacific sailfish. Perhaps the most exciting application has been trolling live bonito and mackerel for giant yellowfin tuna and blue and black marlin. In 1992, a black marlin scaling close to 1100 lbs. was taken in Zihuatanejo, Mexico with a live bait trolled off the Z-Wing.

Dear Barry,

On June 24th, I fished in the Bull River Yacht Club Tournament. It was the final day of a three day event and the last leg of the Governors Cup Series. The Z Wing came through for us again. I caught a new state record wahoo, weighing in at 123.2 lbs and winning the tournament. The fish also brought along a $100,000 prize for a grand total of almost $110,000 (Below) is a picture of the wahoo ... I was fishing on the "Cold Duck" at the time, a 31' Bertram. Is there any way that you could send me a 250 black Z Wing? We couldn't have won without it and will continue using them for years to come.
